Thrictionary
A community dictionary for the Threads platform.
thriend
also spelled: thrend
A friend whose origin story starts on Threads. Maybe you've met IRL by now, maybe you haven't — either way, the app is where it began.
“My thriend in Sweden DM'd me about the post.”
threadversary
The anniversary of joining Threads, or of a specific viral post.
threnemy
An account on Threads you keep encountering whose takes always rub you wrong.
threality
The shared psychological reality of being on Threads — the inside-jokes, the discourse cycles, the algorithm fatigue.
threadmaster
A power user who has learned to navigate the algo, communities, and tag system fluently.
subthread
A branching reply chain that takes on a life of its own beneath the original post, often more interesting than the parent.
“The subthread under that hot take was better than the post itself.”
threads crush
Someone you've quietly fallen for entirely through their Threads posts and replies, despite never having met them. The algorithm keeps surfacing them, you keep parasocially circling, and eventually you accept that the app has turned into a dating app.
“My threads crush finally followed me back and I had to lie down.”

thrictionary
The dictionary you're reading right now — a living glossary of the words Threads invents about itself. Every entry is born from a post, a reply, or a discourse cycle that needed a name.

Got a word? Drop it in the comments on Threads ↗
Format: word, then a short definition. Example usage optional.
